Couples and Marital Therapy
Are you having trouble in your relationship? While living life together, maybe you recognize the closeness and intimacy you once shared has been overshadowed or lost.
Research indicates that 60-70% of couples can make some improvements in their relationships with short term couples therapy. Every relationship is different and as unique as the two people in it, and it is important to identify and address those issues that are specific to your relationship. It is our goal to help each couple realize improved engagement in their lives and to equip our clients with skills to progress and grow. Techniques or modalities that might be used are the Gottman Method, and EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy) for Couples.

Couples therapy will help you gain problem solving skills that change the “blame game” to a win-win problem-solving process. It is important that couples have the opportunity to learn skills to regulate the emotional tone between them at a happy and loving level. Also, a couple may benefit by gaining insights into the childhood origins of their problematic habits and promote excessive emotional reactivity.
Family Therapy
How is your family environment and engagement? Many people believe the family home should be a safe and secure place for all family members. You might be experiencing changes in life situations and circumstances that affect your family dynamic from functioning as well as you like.
Problems with one family member may be an indicator of a larger family problem. Family therapy is a particular approach to psychotherapy. Instead of addressing problems on an individual basis, family counseling recognizes that the problem impacts a number of people, rather than one person, and so the solution should involve all family members. It also can help solve conflicts among family members and teach them better ways to handle problems.
Specifically, therapeutic help for your family will offer valuable tools to help you:
-
Examine your family’s ability to solve problems and express thoughts and emotions in a productive manner
-
Explore family roles, rules and behavior patterns to identify issues that contribute to conflict — and ways to work through these issues
-
Identify your family’s strengths, such as caring for one another, and weaknesses, such as difficulty confiding in one another
Child and Adolescent Therapy
Children and teens may seem to grow up fast. This process can be joyful. We often celebrate milestones as children grow. But this process can also cause mental health issues. Kids and teens may develop issues with behavior, separation, substance abuse, or something else. Therapy can provide support and a safe comfortable environment to develop healthy coping skills, emotional regulation tools, and improve sense of self. Therapy can help grow communication skills and healthy relationships with family and friends.
